Moravian Church &
Athelstan Museum Appeal.
Help us transform an historic building into an invaluable facility for the whole of Malmesbury.
Fantastic News!
We are delighted to be able to announce that – with the help of some incredibly generous donors – the Friends of Athelstan Museum have been able to buy the Moravian Church in Oxford Street.
This is particularly exciting as a year ago as the church came off the market and we thought Malmesbury was going to lose out on a fantastic and multi-use facility. No longer: we now are planning in earnest for what will be a truly invaluable educational space for the town.
As an addition to the museum, the church will be able to accommodate much larger visiting parties; a richer variation of activities, fantastic lecture facilities and increased exhibition space. Furthermore, the church can be used for a whole host of social events, and we will increase its amenity value by smartening up what for too long had been a unattractive building in an advanced state of disrepair.

The next steps...
The capital cost of purchasing the building itself has been met by a small group of anonymous donors to
whom we are incredibly grateful. It now falls to us to raise the remaining funds to repair the church
and kit it out with modern facilities. If you're reading this you're in one of three camps:
1. You kindly pledged money to our appeal a year ago. If so, we would now ask you to make good your promise and please donate that money. You can do by downloading this form and posting it to us with a cheque, or use the 'Donate' button on the next page down. Thank you.
2. You've not heard of the appeal before or were, quite understandably, waiting to see how the situation developed, before donating. If so, then now is the time to help us. You can do this in exactly the way described above.
3. You have no idea about any church or museum and only came online to look at pictures of kittens.

Our town’s museum is doing really well, with increased visitor numbers, new exhibits and a fascinating, growing collection. You can visit the main museum website by clicking here.
We are always looking for help from volunteers who may have a little spare time to man our reception desk, or people who would like to get involved in the running and administration of the museum.
Please contact Roger Griffin on 01666 822230 or via email (info@athelstanmuseum.org.uk)
